Overview

When hayfever strikes, even simple things like going for a walk, working outdoors, or getting a good night’s sleep can feel impossible. Piriteze 10mg tablets provide trusted, non-drowsy relief from sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes, and congestion — helping you take back control from allergies. Fast-acting and long-lasting, Piriteze lets you enjoy your day without hayfever holding you back.

This medicine requires a secure online consultation with a UK-registered prescriber, and will only be supplied if clinically appropriate.

What is Piriteze

Piriteze 10mg tablets contain cetirizine hydrochloride, a well-established second-generation antihistamine used to treat hayfever (seasonal allergic rhinitis), perennial allergies, and skin conditions such as hives.

Works within 1 hour of taking a dose

Provides up to 24 hours of relief

Relieves sneezing, itchy/watery eyes, runny or blocked nose, and skin irritation

Non-drowsy in most people — suitable for daytime use

Piriteze is widely used during hayfever season and is one of the most common antihistamines prescribed and purchased in the UK.

Directions

  • Adults and children aged 12+: One tablet daily with water
  • Take at the same time each day for consistent relief
  • Do not exceed the recommended dose
  • Can be taken with or without food
  • Always follow your prescriber’s advice.

Side Effects

Like all medicines, Piriteze (cetirizine) can cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. Most are mild, short-lived, and improve as your body adjusts.

Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):

  • Drowsiness – although Piriteze is classed as a “non-drowsy” antihistamine, some people may still feel sleepy. If this happens, avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how it affects you.
  • Headache – mild headaches are fairly common and can often be managed with hydration, rest, or simple pain relief.
  • Dry mouth – you may notice a dry or uncomfortable feeling in your mouth. Drinking water often or chewing sugar-free gum can help.
  • Nausea – some people may feel mildly sick. Taking Piriteze with food can sometimes reduce this effect.

Less common (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):

  • Stomach pain – occasional abdominal discomfort may occur but usually passes quickly.
  • Fatigue – some people feel more tired than usual, especially when starting treatment.
  • Dizziness – rarely, cetirizine can cause light-headedness. Rising slowly from sitting or lying down can help reduce this.

Rare but serious (seek urgent medical help):

Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) – symptoms include swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, difficulty breathing, or a sudden rash. This is extremely rare but requires immediate emergency care.

Most people tolerate Piriteze (cetirizine) well, and side effects (if they do occur) are generally mild and temporary. If you are concerned about symptoms, or they do not improve, speak to your doctor, pharmacist, or prescriber.

Disclaimer: This is not a complete list of side effects. Always read the patient information leaflet that comes with your medicine for full details. If you experience severe or worrying symptoms, seek medical advice straight away. In an emergency, call 999 or go to A&E.

Warnings

Piriteze may not be suitable if you:

  • Are allergic to cetirizine or any tablet ingredients
  • Have severe kidney problems
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding (seek prescriber advice)
  • Are taking other sedating medicines (risk of drowsiness)
