What are Zoton FasTabs


Zoton FasTabs contain lansoprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that works by reducing the amount of acid produced in the stomach. This helps relieve the burning discomfort of reflux while allowing the oesophagus and stomach lining to heal.

Unlike standard capsules, Zoton FasTabs are orodispersible tablets that dissolve on the tongue, making them an excellent option for people who dislike or struggle with swallowing pills.

They are prescribed for frequent heartburn and acid reflux, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), and for the treatment and prevention of stomach or duodenal ulcers. They are also used to help protect the stomach in patients taking long-term NSAIDs.

Directions

  • Place the Zoton FasTab on your tongue and allow it to dissolve — no water needed.
  • Usual dose: 15mg to 30mg once daily, taken in the morning, at least 30 minutes before food.
  • Do not chew or swallow whole — let it disperse naturally.
  • Course length depends on condition (from 2–4 weeks to longer treatment for GORD or ulcers).

Side Effects

  • Stomach pain, diarrhoea, constipation, or nausea – digestive upset is among the most common effects but is generally mild.

Uncommon (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):

  • Dizziness, tiredness, or difficulty sleeping – these may affect alertness; avoid driving if you feel unwell.
  • Taste changes or dry mouth – usually mild and temporary.
  • Skin rash or itching – typically mild, but seek advice if persistent.


Rare but serious (seek urgent medical advice):

  • Severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) – symptoms include swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing, or a sudden rash.
  • Severe stomach pain or vomiting blood – could indicate stomach bleeding or ulcer complications.
  • Yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice) – may be a sign of liver problems.
