What is Maxalt Melt

Maxalt Melt is the branded version of rizatriptan oral lyophilisate tablets, part of the triptan family of medicines. It is designed specifically for the acute treatment of migraine attacks, with or without aura.

Maxalt Melt is especially valued by patients who:

  • Find it difficult to swallow during migraine attacks
  • Experience nausea or vomiting alongside their migraines
  • Prefer a convenient, water-free option for fast relief

Like standard Rizatriptan, Maxalt Melt works by:

  • Narrowing widened blood vessels in the brain
  • Calming overactive nerve activity
  • Relieving pain, nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound

Directions

  • Place one Maxalt Melt 10mg tablet on the tongue at the first signs of a migraine.
  • The tablet will dissolve quickly without the need for water.
  • If the migraine returns, you may take a second dose after 2 hours.
  • Do not take more than 2 doses (20mg) in 24 hours.

Not suitable for children under 18. Always follow your prescriber’s guidance.
