Overview

When haemorrhoids are internal and particularly uncomfortable, Uniroid HC Suppositories provide targeted relief exactly where it’s needed. With hydrocortisone to calm inflammation and cinchocaine to numb pain and itching, they work deep inside to shrink piles and ease discomfort.

Discreet, easy to use, and fast-acting, Uniroid HC Suppositories are a trusted prescription treatment for restoring comfort when ointments alone aren’t enough.

This medicine requires a secure online consultation with a UK-registered prescriber, and will only be supplied if clinically appropriate.

What are Uniroid HC Suppositories

Uniroid HC Suppositories are specifically designed to treat internal haemorrhoids (piles) by delivering relief directly to the site of swelling and irritation. They combine two active ingredients for a powerful dual-action effect:

Hydrocortisone – a mild corticosteroid that reduces redness, swelling, and inflammation.

Cinchocaine – a local anaesthetic that quickly eases pain, itching, and discomfort.

By working together, these ingredients target both the underlying inflammation and the uncomfortable symptoms of internal piles. Uniroid HC Suppositories are particularly useful for patients experiencing significant discomfort, itching, or bleeding from internal haemorrhoids, offering targeted relief where standard creams or ointments may not reach effectively.

Directions

  • Wash your hands before and after use.
  • Remove the suppository from its foil wrapper.
  • Gently insert one suppository into the rectum.
  • Use morning and night, and after each bowel movement if required (do not exceed the prescribed dose).
  • Do not use for longer than 7 days unless advised.

Side Effects

Most people tolerate Uniroid HC Suppositories well, and side effects are uncommon when used as directed. However, as with all medicines, some patients may experience unwanted effects.

Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people):

  • Temporary stinging, burning, or irritation after insertion – usually mild and short-lived as the body adjusts.

Less common (may affect up to 1 in 100 people):

  • Skin thinning with prolonged use – hydrocortisone (a corticosteroid) may cause the delicate tissue around the anus to thin if used for long periods. Always use for the duration recommended by your doctor or pharmacist.

Rare but serious (seek urgent medical advice):

  • Allergic reactions – symptoms may include worsening redness, itching, rash, or swelling. In very rare cases, swelling of the face, lips, or difficulty breathing may occur and require immediate medical attention.

Most patients find Uniroid HC Suppositories safe and effective, with side effects (if they occur) generally mild and temporary.

Disclaimer: This is not a complete list of side effects. Always read the patient information leaflet supplied with your medicine for full details. If you notice anything unusual or concerning, stop using the suppositories and seek medical advice promptly. In an emergency, call 999 or go to A&E.

Warnings

Do not use Uniroid HC Suppositories if you:

  • Are allergic to hydrocortisone, cinchocaine, or any ingredients
  • Have untreated infections in the anal area
  • Are pregnant or breastfeeding, unless prescribed by a doctor

Other cautions:

  • Short-term use only (no longer than 7 days without advice)
  • Seek medical help if bleeding or pain continues after treatment
  • Prolonged steroid use may cause local skin changes
