What is Alverine Citrate

Alverine Citrate is an antispasmodic medicine used to relieve symptoms of:

  • Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
  • Diverticular disease
  • Chronic constipation with abdominal spasms

It works by relaxing the smooth muscle of the gut, helping to reduce painful spasms, bloating, and discomfort without affecting normal digestion.

Directions

  • Usual adult dose: 60mg capsule up to three times a day.
  • Higher strength versions (120mg) may be taken up to twice a day, if prescribed.
  • Swallow whole with water. Do not chew or crush.

Not suitable for children under 12. Always follow your prescriber’s instructions.
